Since the Greek age and the red sea is called like that. ancient Greeks use to name the oceans and seas according to the colors like black sea and white sea (Mediterranean sea) . and so they named it red sea....what made them choose the red color exactly is not well known .
but, some theory says that it could be because of the red Color that appears along its mountain chain. which reflect the sun rays when sunset.
another reason for the name, is it looks due to the appearance that it
can have once per 3-4 years as it goes totally red when some kind of algae blooms tinge the water with a reddish-brown color. there is also another reason for having this name as there is alot of corals that have red color which make it even appears from the outer space looks a little more reddish colored than other seas.
